William Spurling

I began playing the drums when I was eight years old, having private tuition once a fortnight. I started my own band with school friends when I was 12 and we went onto gig regularly around London and the home counties, despite being too young to be in pubs! I was a student at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology from 1997-2000 and it was there that I saw a drum clinic by Colin Woolway – the founder of Drumsense.

In the years since then I have continuously played gigs and spent time in the studio, recording and performing with my own originals band, as well as playing function gigs and studio session work.

When I perform - my desire is to interact and communicate with the musicians and the audience, striving to elevate each person’s mood and make them feel happy to be there. I have worked continuously on my own technique and studied various styles of music to achieve this.

Through studying with me, it is my hope that I can pass on my many years of playing experience to you and enable you to gain great joy from playing the drums and making music with others.

I’m willing to take on students of all ages and abilities!
