Although I started drumming aged about 10, it wasn't until 1991 that I decided to take proper lessons and I have studied with Colin Woolway pretty well continuously for the last 20 years.

After playing with various blues bands, and rock/pop outfits, I was introduced to the function band Virgo 9 years ago and regularly play at weddings, dances, golf club dinners and other corporate functions. Virgo has been on the road for over 27 years and play a very wide range of music styles. This has given me a broad interest in learning and teaching all styles of drumming from swing through rock and pop, to Latin.The only real exception is thrash metal, which i am happy to leave to those with that talent!

I have a good deal of experience in teaching in general having taught sports at Banstead youth centre for the last 25 years. I am both patient and encouraging in my approach and emphasise the fun in learning new skills. I have been CRB checked through the youth centre and hold a current 1st aid certificate.

I decided on a career change that would include teaching drums under the Drumsense system. I have my own teaching studio equipped with both electronic Roland V-drums and an acoustic set as well as play-along facilities. One of the portable Roland units allows me to undertake home teaching in some circumstances.
