Kevin Cook

A young lad sat watching Top of the Pops on TV (too long ago to mention) dreamed of being in a band. "I'll play the drums" He thought "You don't have to read music for that" (Ha..........little did I know). Anyway moving on from settee snare and sombrero crash cymbal I bought my first kit and the rest is history.

Played for my own amusement and with various pub/club bands for 15 or so years and then, after being made redundant from so-called 'steady jobs' I thought "I'm going to earn a living doing what I love!" And so it has been ever since, not an easy road travelled but I'm enjoying the journey.

Now I not only want to play I want to teach and pass on my endless enthusiasm for drumming (I'm sure a few rudiments will creep in too.......Ha!)

Apart from my studio work with a local singer/songwriter I've toured Denmark with their biggest circus, been resident drummer at a holiday park in Wales and sailed the Caribbean on the second biggest liner in the world. Also played numerous pub/club gigs with R'n'B/soul bands, a swing band(where I learnt to read the dots!!!) and a funk band.

I'm currently the drummer with Du Glas, an originals band playing folk/country music in Cornwall and festivals throughout the UK. I also play drums in a very busy glam-rock tribute band called 20th Century Stardust, gigging throughout Cornwall. When I have some free time I may also be found depping for blues, rock or soul bands too.

Whatever you do with your drumming have fun and enjoy it, you never know where it may lead. Hopefully as far as you want to take it!!

Along with my knowledge and experience, the biggest tool I use for teaching is enthusiasm and the Drumsense program is the perfect vehicle for me. It combines fun, fills and fundamentals which is the way I approach teaching. You learn something new and have fun doing it, thereby reinforcing the skills learnt.
