Richard Davey

Hi, I'm Richard and I've been teaching the Drumsense programme for over 12 years and playing professionally for over 25 years. Drumming has been my passion since my early teens and passing on 'the knowledge' is extremely rewarding. I was one of the first to start teaching this excellent programme and have found it most enjoyable and gives great results.

My drumming career at age 16 and I began playing professionally at 17. I now have many years of playing experience with bands live and in the studio at many venues all around the country.

Lessons are mainly given from a fully equipped studio with 3 kits, stereo and PA. Students can play along to tracks included in the programme or bring along music by their favourite bands. Home tutoring can also be provided. If you wish to study for exams, I also teach all of the Drumsense and Rockschool Grades up to Grade 8 and have a 100% pass rate at Distinction level.

All styles including Rock, Jazz, Latin etc are covered in the syllabus. However, should you wish to study a particular aspect, such as double bass drum, Moeller technique etc this can be arranged.

In addition to teaching privately I have also taught in schools and I am fully CRB checked.

I have also had the privilege of becoming a Drumsense Teacher Trainer and have mentored several students to teacher status including Matt Gibson and Dan Potter who are now teaching the programme themselves.

I have also had the pleasure of working closely with David Hazlewood and David Driver when organising the very successful Drums In The Weald events which has included performances by Darrin Mooney (Gary Moore, Primal Scream), Adrian Erlandsson (Nemhain), Pete Lockett (Independent), Steve White (Paul Weller, The Style Council) and the Drumsense Founder himself Colin Woolway.
