The first pages deal with reading and counting using simple whole, half, quarter, eighth and sixteenth notes and rests. This progresses on to playing buzz strokes at 16th note, and then 16th note triplet pulse, and finally a section where the student can play simple "pieces", which include buzz rolls, and has to determine the pulse of the roll as related to the speed of the piece.
