Biography

Hi I'm Alex, a drum teacher and drummer from the Hertfordshire area. I have been playing and performing for the last 15 years and have now become a Drumsense tutor. The acclaimed programme is tried and tested and gives students a clear and structured path to learning the drums. The Drumsense programme focuses on beginners to intermediates. It provides a structured approach and covers a broad range of drumming styles and topics, and teaching is tailored to suit the individual using a variety of books, DVDs and play-along material.

I grew up in the US, and this is where I first started playing the drums. Once back in the UK, I was taught by John Roberts; a great tutor and professional drummer. It was John who inspired me to pursue my passion and go professional. Since then I have studied at Drumtech - School of Percussion in London, whilst playing with various acts, from dance to rock groups and also cover bands. I have been performing live with Narration, a London based Rock group for the past five years. We have toured the UK, Europe and the US and I have lots of studio experience, having recorded and released both singles and albums with the band.

Although still performing, I would like to help other aspiring drummers, realise their potential. The lessons are structured, but informal and I would like students to have fun, as well as learn. Lessons can take place in the Welwyn Garden City area using a combination of electric and acoustic drum kits. Alternatively preparations can be made to teach at students homes, using their own equipment. The lessons vary from half an hour to an hour in length, depending on preference and needs.
