Tutor Profile: John Harris

Biography

John has over a decade of performing experience and has now been teaching the drum kit for 5 years to all ages, from beginners to advanced players. He is available to teach at his home studio or can travel to your home for lessons. John is also fully C.R.B checked.
John recently began using the Drumsense books for teaching purposes, as he feels they provide a good solid basis for all levels of drummers to work from. John also uses other material to complement the Drumsense books including Jim Chapin's Advanced Techniques for the Modern Drummer, Ted Reed’s Syncopation and Buzz Rolls for the Drum Set along with the Trinity Guildhall Graded books, which can be helpful to chart a pupil’s progress.

After graduating Kingston University London with a First Class BMus Hons Degree, John has been working as a Freelance drummer and teacher across the country, playing with a range of musicians in a very wide spread of genres including, Jazz, Pop, Funk, Rock, Latin, Folk and Classical.
With his wealth of performance experience and playing styles, John is able to help students prepare for a life of drumming no matter what style of playing may be thrown at them!
