14 May 2016
Colin has composed another Training Track - this one to accompany shuffle fills in subdivision 6222.

Simon started his drumming career in 1978with a local drum tutor, initially learning rudimental studies and sight reading. At the age of 10 he joined the local marching band and began playing snare drum with them on a regular basis. Simon also began drum kit studies at the same time and was soon playing for local theatre productions. Simon's first paid performance was at the age of 12 where he played drum for the scout "gang Show" and was paid £30 for a week's worth of shows!
After leaving school Simon continued his drum kit studies and played in many jazz quartets and function bands. In 1995 Simon decided that he was going to concentrate on teaching drum kit and began teaching drum kit at private school in Southampton. From there he landed contracts with Dorset Music Service and other private schools. During this time Simon also started his private drum teaching practice which to date has had over 500 students pass through its curriculum. In 1998 Simon began teaching for Drumsense Teaching Project, using the syllabus devised by Colin Woolway. Colin asked Simon to write a Snare Drum instructional book that would complement the teaching programme and the Contemporary approach to Snare Drum Technique came into being. Simon has also taught at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, teaching the percussion ensemble and technique studies on all the courses offered.
2004 saw Simon start to write for national periodical "Drummer", writing the technique instructional column of the educational section of the magazine. In 2005 Simon released the Urban Groove Method CD which is a play along CD that focuses on dance styles. He also filmed an instructional DVD due for release in 2006. Simon is proud of his endorsements with Zildjian Cymbals, Vic Firth drum drumsticks, Hardcase cases, Big Dog Drum Stuff and Tom Cat Snare Drums. Simon's performance commitments have included Robert Palmer, local radio jingles, Bournemouth Jazz Orchestra, Ken Freeman(composer of Casualty ...
